Rosenblatt Recitals

Dear subscriber,

Following the success of the first three Rosenblatt Recitals CDs released on Opus Arte, we are delighted to announce the next three titles in the series, which go on sale at the beginning of October.

Ekaterina Siurina - Amore e Morte
Iain Burnside, piano

‘…a lovely Russian coloratura soprano’
The New York Times

Ekaterina Siurina celebrates the song-writing talents of four great composers better known for their operas in a recital of flirtatious, passionate and grief-stricken lovers plighting their troths in Naples, Florence, Venice and elsewhere.

Ailish Tynan – Fauré Mélodies
Iain Burnside, piano

‘…a lyric voice of delicious purity’
Opera Now

Ailish Tynan has made a speciality of French song. The mélodies of Gabriel Fauré lie at the heart of his romantic but elusive style, and this selection ranges from the composer's youthful embrace of Italian style to late and quietly innovative settings of Verlaine in which simplicity and profundity of expression go hand in hand.

Francesco Meli – Britten: Michelangelo Sonnets, Liszt: Petrarch Sonnets
Matteo Pais, piano

‘…impeccable sound command and beauty of tone’

Francesco Meli is acclaimed for his mellifluous tenor in the French and Italian bel canto repertoire celebrated on this recital disc with songs and arias from Rossini to Massenet. Complementing these are song cycles by Liszt and Britten setting poems by great figures of the Italian Renaissance, Michelangelo and Petrarch.

A reminder that our new season begins next Monday evening with Spanish tenor Celso Albelo. There are still tickets remaining for this recital, which features a fascinating programme of little-heard Hispanic repertoire and some classic arias from Celso’s most celebrated roles. Here is a video of Celso in action singing ‘Spirto gentil’ from Donizetti’s La favorita:

Mozart: Die Schuldigkeit des ersten Gebots

Tue 24 Sep 7.30pm, Wigmore Hall

To mark the release of its new recording of the work, Classical Opera performs Mozart’s remarkable sacred singspiel, written when he was just eleven. The music is full of tender beauty, dynamism and descriptive flair, and the young composer’s innate sense of understanding and sympathy for the human condition already shines through. In a rare concert performance soloists Ailish Tynan, Sarah Fox, Mary Bevan, Andrew Kennedy and Allan Clayton join forces with conductor Ian Page and the company’s period instrument orchestra.
