Rosenblatt Recitals

Dear subscriber,

Our next recital presents 2013 Operalia winner Aida Garifullina in one of the most hotly anticipated UK debuts for years. As well as being crowned winner of the world’s premiere competition for talented young singers, at just 27 years old the Russian lyric soprano has already been snapped up by Decca Records to an exclusive recording deal, signed to a two year contract with the Wiener Staatsoper, and appears destined to become the leading soprano of her generation.

‘Aida Garifullina is a vibrant, passionately sensitive and incredibly engrossing young soprano who promises to become one of the most exciting Opera divas of today and tomorrow. She is a fine example of a modern-day young singer with a good education, natural beauty in the quality of her voice, strong dramatic talent, great sensitivity, mature musicality and an impeccable sense of style.’

Aida Garifullina

As well as winning Operalia, in a career-defining 2013 Aida made her Mariinsky Theatre debut (Susanna, Le nozze di Figaro) on the personal invitation of Valery Gergiev and is now a regular principal at the historic venue. Prior to her breakout year, Aida had already established a significant reputation within Russia: at 13 years of age she was awarded the Feodor Chaliapin Fund ‘Voice of the Year’ scholarship; by 17 she had performed for three Russian presidents; at 20 she began studies at the Vienna Conservatory under Claudia Visca; and last year was awarded the title ‘Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan’, taking a leading role in the cultural and ambassadorial activities for the region.

Watch Aida’s Operalia-winning performance of ‘Oh! quante volte ti chiedo’ (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) in the 2013 edition of the competition which has previously unearthed the likes of Nina Stemme, Joyce DiDonato and Ailyn Pérez:
