"Arguably, the greatest leading tenor of his generation," (Opera News, 2008) Italian Marcello Giordani makes a rare London appearance to round off our 2014/15 season with pianist Macrì Simone. Giordani has performed extensively accross Europe and the US including the New York Metropolitan Opera, where he made his debut in 1993 and has performed leading tenor roles including Met premieres of Berlioz's Benvenuto Cellini and Bellini's Il pirata as well as being the tenor soloist in the Met's 2008 Verdi Requiem in memory of Luciano Pavarotti.

Still connected to his Italian roots, in 2008 Giordani became Artistic Director for Musical Events at Città della Notte, a new arts centre near to Augusta. "I was born in Augusta, a city that I deeply love. I'm proud to be a Sicilian and to be an Augustan." (Marcello Giordani, Augusta Online, 2008). Giordani is also very passionate about nurturing the next generation of opera singers. Find out more about his Marcello Giordani Foundation.
