Rosenblatt Recitals

Dear subscriber,

In our previous recital, Rosa Feola kick-started 2014 with a brilliant 5* performance and we expect the quality to continue in our February recital, when we are delighted to present the only mezzo-soprano of our 13/14 season – and third and final female voice – Nino Surguladze.

» TICKETS £12, £16, £22, £26

Georgian mezzo-soprano Nino Surguladze first drew attention in the UK in 2003, competing in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition for both the overall prize and what was then the Rosenblatt Recital Song Prize. Subsequent UK appearances included ‘the outstanding performance’ of Glyndebourne Festival’s 2006 production of Betrothal in a Monastery, inbetween two promising performances at the Royal Opera House – as Olga in Eugene Onegin and Dorabella in Cosi Fan Tutte. Nino’s programme provides an exciting departure from the other recitals so far this season, with a second half comprised entirely of lieder.

Her voice… possessing richly nuanced contralto hues, showed that she is a singer with intelligence to watch out for.'
Seen and Heard International

Nino’s talents are not limited to singing: before the coup of 1993 put paid to the Georgian film industry, a promising acting career beckoned with Nino starring in three major films before her 14th birthday, including the award-winning Valsi Pechoraze. Now a huge superstar in her native country, Nino regularly performs on Georgian television, at huge gala concerts in Tblisi and even acts as a celebrity judge on the Georgian version of hit-show Dancing with the Stars!

For our video of Surguladze in performance, we have selected an item she will also be performing in the first half of her Rosenblatt Recital programme – ‘Mon coeur s'ouvre à ta voix’ from Camille Saint-Saëns’ Samson et Dalila.

We do hope you can join us.

With best wishes from everyone at Rosenblatt Recitals
