Dear subscriber,

On Tuesday 19 May we are pleased to welcome soprano Jessica Pratt, with her "gleaming sound, free and easy high notes, agile coloratura runs and lyrical grace" (New York Times), to Wigmore Hall for her first Rosenblatt Recital, accompanied by pianist Vincenzo Scalera.

Jessica Pratt will make her Rosenblatt Recital debut on Tuesday 19 May at London’s Wigmore Hall accompanied by Italian-American pianist Vincenzo Scalera. Pratt and Scalera will perform a wide variety of repertoire from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with music from Rossini to Bachelet.

Despite beginning her musical studies as a trumpet player, British-born, Australian-raised Jessica Pratt has developed into a stellar soprano and won the prestigious Australian Singing Competition in 2003. Since that win, Pratt has studied extensively in Italy with Renata Scotto and Lella Cuberli and gone on to debut in many of the world’s great opera houses.

Pratt has a strong affinity to the music of Rossini. She has performed roles in six of his operas including Desdemona in Otello and premieres of two of his rarer works: Amira in Ciro in Babolinia and the title role in Armida, at the Garsington Opera Festival in 2010, where one critic noted “what sets the performance alight is Jessica Pratt’s Armida. This young soprano has a ringing top, good looks, stage temperament and enough vocal quality to make sense of Rossini’s love-struck heroine.” Andrew Clark, Financial Times.

Pratt's Rosenblatt Recital will include songs and arias by Donizetti, Bellini, Gounod, Dell'Acqua and Rossini, plus many more. Click on the video below to whet your appetite by watching her performance as Amenaide in Rossini's Tancredi:
