"The fluently musical young American tenor Russell Thomas was nothing short of sensational." (The Telegraph, 2012)

Russell Thomas, 2014/15 Atlantis Symphony Orchestra Artist in Residence, has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting vocal and dramatic talents on the international opera and concert scene. Thomas comes to London for his Rosenblatt Recital with Simon Lepper off the back of a busy 2015, which has included performances at the Palau de les Arts, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Cincinnati Opera, Seattle Opera and the Michigan Opera Theatre.

Thomas performed Ismaele in Verdi’s Nabucco with Seattle Opera in August and “sang with a clarion tone quality, polish, and power,” (Seattle Times). Opera Settecento

Adriano in Siria (Naples 1734) - Opera Settecento
Cadogan Hall, 16 September, 7.00pm

UK premiere

Adriano in SiriaYou are probably familiar with Pergolesi's sublime Stabat Mater, but you may not be familiar with his operatic works. Adriano in Siria is full of arresting melodies and contains one of the most beautiful baroque arias ever written, namely Farnaspe’s “Lieto cosi tal volta”. Cast includes South African soprano Erica Eloff as Farnaspe. Interestingly, Erica also played Farnaspe in J.C. Bach's opera of the same name for Classical Opera in April.
